What would life be like if Women ran the world?

Just imagine, waking up tomorrow morning and discovering that all the Governments around the world were lead by woman, and that women held the majority of seats in each Government.  How different would our lives be?

Would women be able to achieve peace in our time?  Would women be able to put an end to poverty, in all countries, not just the third world?  Would women be able to get a handle on global warming and reverse climate change? Would women be able to bring the crime rates down, rid the planet of the scourge of drugs, increase living standards for average people, save animals from extinction and in general save the world?  Would women have the sense not to waste millions, or billions of tax payers dollars on stupid things?  (Wow there is a lot that needs doing when you look at it, and this list is just the tip of the iceberg).

Would women be capable of working together for the good of all, or would we all be too busy letting egos get in the way, trying to out do one another in the climb to the top?  By the same token in the ever growing search to earn more and more money would we descend into a “race to the bottom” in the name of Greed, as we have seen happen within the Governments of many countries over the decades?

This initial question seems to bring with it more and more questions, and so far, very few answers.  However I think it provides food for thought and it is something worth thinking about.

It will no doubt be many, many years before woman come close to being able to run the world. We have a long way to go before we achieve equality, let alone break through the barriers that prevent more women from holding positions of power.

I suggest, while we work towards true equality and more, there are many things we can do.  We can offer our support to other women and celebrate their successes and achievements. If we see another woman struggling we can offer our help – not our judgement.  And if we manage to achieve a seat on the board, or some other position of prestige, we could work on bringing other women along with us. We need to be there for each other and encourage each other to achieve our dreams and our potential.

What would life be like if women ran the world?  I don’t have the answer – but I can pose another question… Would life be any better or any worse, if woman ran the world?

Wouldn’t it be good to have the opportunity to find out?
